I posted this on the freebord forum, but you don't seem to be visiting ATM.
Two suggestions
How about being able to add rider/shop locations to the map?
Like you can on Freebordmaps.
Would be nice if you compiled downloadable *.KMZ files for each country. We could then download all the hill/rider marks for our region and view them directly on Google earth, in 3D! You could have a full d/l file and weekly/monthly updates If a country file got too unwieldy, you could split it up into regions. I could see that happening for the USA for example, you could split it by East/West, or by state.
Oh, and thirdly, how about adding slide hills to your hill type choice list?
Hey man, great
Hey man, great suggestions!
You can already add your rider location - if you click on "my account", then "Profile" (to the right of your username on the account page), you can input your city, country, etc.
At the moment, I don't do much with this info - but in future, for sure it will be used for others to find riders in their area! Also to display hills in your area automatically, etc. This is a feature on the todo list.
The shop locations will be an interesting one and requires a bit more work - it's also on the list, just a bit further down... ;)
The compiled KMZ files is also something I definitely want. I'm still thinking about the best way to do this, as there are a number of different approaches... and yes, this suggestion is very important - I ideally want people to use the "Find hills" links, narrow down the list, then have a "download these search results as KMZ" link which dynamically generates the KML for all hills on the search results. As you can imagine, that's quite a bit of programming to get right. I will have to take a closer look when I get time.
As for slide hills, could you be more specific? We don't have a "hill type choice list", unless I'm just misunderstanding you?
Thanks again for the feedback.
Good to see you can download
Good to see you can download individual KMZs for hills, any progress on compiling hills in an area into one big KMZ?
